Hiding Man Boobs…Experiences and Suggestions From a Fitness Professional

by Malingering Hiding Man Boobs...Experiences and Suggestions From a Fitness Professional

Although these days I work as a Fitness Instructor, I have led a varied life in commerce and have encountered several men who had poor posture or were always seen wearing baggy clothes. It was only if I was in a situation where my colleages and I had to 'strip off' that the reason became apparent...they were hiding man boobs. At the time I didn't have the knowledge as to the causes and it is only in recent years that I have put a lot of effort into exploring the two conditions involved. My earliest memories of the very real problem of gynecomastia[although very little was known about the condition in the 1960's] was of a boy in my year at school. He was so embarrassed with his appearance that he used to invent many excuses for not taking part in sports, games etc. so that he didn't have to expose his body in the communal showers afterwards. Inevitably, he suffered from the taunts about his 'breasts' from a minority of insensitive 'bullies' and so developed this intense need for hiding man boobs. I hope that he grew out of his condition, which , as I know now, was pubertal gynecomastia. In fact, 93% of adolescents do lose their 'breasts' after 3 years or so. In those days the only remedy which doctors prescribed for gynecomastia was surgery as nothing was known about hormonal imbalance. Such drastic action as this very often left guys scarred for life. You might say that the remedy was worse than the cure! Another alternative that became more readily available were undergarments designed to compress the flesh and thus help in hiding man boobs. Thes have been improved a lot over the years and now come in several different types. If you wish to go down this route, here are some guidelines for you to consider as there are so many manufacturers offering compression underwear at prices which vary from to 0:

Buy good quality and ensure that the garments are guaranteed for a minimum of 30 extreme washes and many more normal ones. Ensure that the garment is made of 3-way stretch fabric, so that control is comfortable but effective. The fabric must be soft, using fiber blends like 'Tactel' or 'Lycrasoft'. The material must be of the 'breathable' type to allow moisture to escape and air to come in. The garment must also have built-in anti-microbial qualities as otherwise bacteria, mildew and moulds will flourish.

I don't propose to recommend any particular manufacturers as I regard these undergarments as a lazy way to hide man boobs and they should only be a temporary measure. Surely it is better to tackle the issue of excess male breast tissue head on? I have personally helped a number of clients to develop a more manly chest through a regime of exercise, plus dietary and lifestyle changes. However, I do realise that there are many guys out there who don't like gyms, can't get to a gym or simply can't afford the cost of membership of a quality fitness centre. Neither can some men afford to buy compression garments so I started to research other, less expensive alternatives. The result of my efforts are included on my website 'Best Chest Guide', together with a lot more information on gynecomastia and pseudogynecomastia...the two causes of excess male breast tissue and the need to hide man boobs which results from these conditions. It was important to me that any methods that my research unearthed were drug-free and embraced my own philosophy with regard to exercise, nutrition and lifestyle.
