When I was in my early twenties, I was skinny. I could eat anything I wanted and not gain a single pound. It was a great thing to gorge myself and stay at 150lbs.

By the time I reached my late twenties things started to change a little. I was married now and my life started to slow down, so did my metabolism. I started to gain weight. Now I was at 170lbs, which was nice because lets face it, 150lbs and five foot eleven inches I was a bean pole. The only problem though was I did not stop gaining weight.

When I reached my early thirties, I was now up to 200lbs. Now I had a medium sized beer gut and I was also developing man boobs. I guess I was in denial at this point.

Now I was thirty eight years old. I was a whopping 225lbs. I looked like I was in full term pregnancy and I had fully developed man boobs. I was also very out of shape, of course. After coming back from vacation and seeing pictures of myself, I realized that I was fat. I was no longer in denial. I realized that I needed to lose weight.

I did not know how to really diet right so I used one of the big diet plans that that I had seen on television. This diet worked well for me. In a matter of three months I had lost thirty pounds.

I was almost happy now. I had almost lost all of my beer gut and my man boobs had almost disappeared. The only thing I did not like about myself was that now my skin and muscles were a little flabby. I was also worried about putting the weight back on. I realized that the only way to keep that from happening was to exercise.

I figured that I would start a basic exercise routine. I would do pull ups, push ups, sit ups, dips and cardio on my elliptical that had a inch of dust on it. I started slow because I really could not do much of these exercises.

Within a month I had a pretty good exercise routine down. I was in shape and feeling good, I even lost another 10lbs. Now I was at 185lbs with a nice medium build. My flab was gone and my muscles were getting toned.

Everything is great now. I look and feel like I am in the greatest shape of my life. Through dieting and basic exercising I have achieved my weight loss and fitness goal. I think that this could work for any middle aged man that is in the same situation I was.
