Reigning on Negatives with Positives to Build a Comprehensive Unit

Consider a guy who has feeble and thin calves and yet hates leg presses and squats to the bone. If he or she can avoid them, he would be very happy. Actually he frequently misses on training during those days when leg presses or squats are part of the workout session. Unconsciously even, but the hatred of an important exercises can cripple the whole program. At the very basic he has no interest in building the legs, only if, the legs were not so awkward when matched with his massive chest and awesome biceps.

This guy can do two things. Continue on and ignore the legs and concentrate on the chest which he loves to train or he can decide to reign on the legs using the chest. How does this work? Simple, the carrot dangled in front of the eyes is the track, some rewards after doing what you don’t want to do but which is important. The body builder can decide that he will train both the chest and the legs in one workout session. Since he loves the chest exercises, he is unlikely to miss out on training for that single reason. Then he should make the leg exercised to be the first part of training before he embarks of training the chest.

No matter how loathful the squats and leg presses are, he will attend to them if only to get done with them and start on the bench with chest exercises. In this way he will have used the strong areas, chest training in this respect, to reign on the weak areas, leg training in this respect. That is the wise move. A body builder will plan on eating his favorite meal only after achieving such and such intensity in a particular exercises which he generally dislikes. He will in another instance try to stimulate growth in the shoulders, some times even if he doesn’t like the idea at all or even see the need, by incorporating the shoulder exercises as part of biceps exercises since biceps are his priority training region, Thus doing, the shoulders will grow at par with the rest of the physique, even though he never sets out to train them.

You cannot afford to ignore and remain complacent with your weaknesses and weak points. The best approach would be to use the areas you are okay with, to consolidate growth in areas where marginal growth is being registered, doing what you don’t like just because it is juxtaposed with what you love doing.

This must be used in dieting too and not only in training. A piece of chicken, your favorite meals can be incorporated in your daily helpings of fish, which tastes ludicrous if you are asked. A glass of milk just before you drink a beer, which if it were left to you beer will do and milk given to the kids. That is wisdom. Instead of ignoring and concentrating only on your strengths and strong points, you can use the strong points to reign on those weak points. By the end, you will have stimulated comprehensive growth, uniform development and a price-winning physique.
